Specializing in Lycoming, Continental, Gipsy, Rotax engines and components.
Southair’s preference is to overhaul to factory remanufactured standard – as new tolerances throughout. A comprehensive warranty comes with the overhaul.
We can give you a basic estimate for your engine overhaul or bulk strip prior to disassembly, based on the engines history, but will only give a more accurate quote once it has been stripped down, inspected and established with the customer which components are to be replace and repaired.
A Southair engine overhaul usually includes a full crankcase overhaul, new cylinder kits, a new camshaft and tappet set, new ignition harness and all mandatory replacement parts.
Magnetos, starter motors, alternators and fuel control systems are either replaced or overhauled to factory specifications.
Southair operates an exchange engine overhaul regime. We can overhaul your own engine or exchange it for an overhauled item. The cost is normally the same. Conditions apply where the exchange engine is damaged or major components are beyond repair (e.g. cracked crankshaft).

Southair is now one of the few engine shops in Australasia that overhauls Gipsy Major and Gipsy Queen engines on a regular basis.
All our overhauled engines are tested after rebuild in our purpose built test truck.
