Or Southair can carry out the required repairs in conjunction with your insurer and maintenance provider
What happens if unfortunately your valuable aircraft is damaged away from your home base?
Cancel your flight plan and inform the emergency services of the situation.
If there are no injuries the next step is to inform your insurance provider.
Then secure the aircraft if in a remote area. Picket the aircraft if possible and if stock are present, get them removed. It is amazing how much damage inquisitive cattle can do to an aircraft. Retrieve the flight manual and fuel card and any other valuables.
In most cases the aircraft maintenance company is then instructed to retrieve the damaged aircraft by your insurance company and assessor.
At this stage an estimate is prepared and forwarded to the assessor who then usually inspects the aircraft.
The assessor may then request bids to repair from other companies but in most cases the repairs are carried out by your maintenance provider if they have the capability and have worked with and have provided a good quality of service to the insurance company and assessor in the past.
The maintenance provider will also help you fill out the accident reports and insurance paperwork.
Once the repairs are completed, the customer signs a release form if they are satisfied the repairs have been done to the correct standard and the aircraft is released to the customer.
